The Nagi Museum Of Contemporary Art is called Nagi-MOCA. It was designed by Arata Isozaki who is famous architect of the world. NAGI-MOCA was opened 25th April 1994.
At Nagi-MOCA, four artists - Shusaku Arakawa, Madeline Gins, Kazuo Okazaki and Aiko Miyawaki - have been asked to conceive works that cannot be accommodated in conventional museum galleries. They are discassined for their works and the spaces of this museum. The spaces for these works have been integrated into the architecture.
There are three rooms which is named "Sun", "Moon" and "Earth". They can clearly be recognized from the outside. The axis of "Sun" is oriented north-south. The axis which is along straight wall of "Moon" is pointed in the direction of the moon at 10 p.m. at the autumnal equinox. The central axis of "earth" is pointed in the direction of the peak of Mt. Nagi.

NAGI-MOCA, the collaboration of architects and artists in the production of spatial works presents a new type museum in future. The new model for architectural spaces that are adapted to the art of today and of the future. Nagi-MOCA is the first attempt of a public museum in the world.
